An Invitation To An Opportunity For Spiritual Growth

Every year at St. John's Cathedral we offer an opportunity for a basic class in Christianity seen through the lens of the Anglican tradition. This series of classes begins soon and we invite you to participate. This is a great opportunity for you either because you have already expressed interest in the class, you are relatively new to St. John's, or it might be something in which you might be interested.

We begin with some of the basics like why believe at all? We go through the biblical story and the story of Jesus, and explore some of the particular ways Anglicans express the Christian faith.

Fr. Mark Kowalewski has taught this class for many years. In fact, he wrote a book out of this experience that will be a text for the class. Over the course of the several weeks (nine sessions this year) you will also form bonds of community with other members of the group so it's a great way to enter the life of the community if you are new to St. John's.

The classes will all be on Zoom on Saturday mornings beginning February 5, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. During Lent, the group is invited to attend church together where you will also receive a special blessing and a small symbolic gift each week as you move through the journey of the class. Check out the attachment below if you want to know more.

This is also the once a year time for those who want to officially become part of the Episcopal Church to make that commitment, preparation for Baptism for both adults and parents of children, and an opportunity to formally recommit to faith in Christ as the class culminates at the Easter Vigil on April 16.

Some of you have already said you are interested in participating and we will send you the Zoom link, If you haven't yet let us know of your interest, please reach out to our office to churchoffice@stjohnsla.org  and we will make sure you get the link. This is one of our favorite experiences of the year and we hope you will join us.
