Mission, Vision, Values

St. John’s Cathedral seeks to be a community that offers a new relationship with God given by Christ Jesus, bringing us into the kingdom of God and giving us fullness in life. We are required to love God, to love our neighbors, and to love one another as Christ loved us.

St. John’s Cathedral is committed to radical hospitality; to traditional and diverse liturgy and music; and to giving abundantly, to using resources wisely, and to engaging in vibrant ministries. We seek peace, justice and reconciliation.

These are our core values:

Inclusiveness

I John 4:7-8: “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”

Welcoming

Matthew 25:31-40: “I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.”

Community

Romans 12:4-5: “For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.”

Diversity

Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Stewardship

Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
