Hispanic-Indigenous Heritage
The Diocese of Los Angeles is located in one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the nation, and takes seriously the call to seek and serve Christ in all persons. This Sunday we celebrate both Hispanic Heritage and Indigenous People Day. The Episcopal Latino/Hispanic Ministries group seeks to achieve understanding and unity among their diverse community, and to share the rich cultural, religious, and spiritual diversity with others in our diocese. According to the most recent US Census, Los Angeles is home to more than 250,000 Indigenous Americans. This makes Los Angeles home to the largest population of Indigenous Americans in the United States. Among them are the people whose ancestors have resided here for hundreds of years.
