Join St. John’s on Sunday, June 30, at the 11:00 a.m. mass to celebrate LGBTQ Pride month on the 50th anniversary of Stonewall with guest preacher Rev. Christopher Montella and music offering from the LA Trans Chorus.
Trans Chorus of Los Angeles is leading the way in the choral world by being visible, bold and proud! We are a chorus of transgender, gender non-conforming/gender non-binary & intersex Individuals using our voices to bring awareness, understanding, power and VICTORY for the Trans Community. We want every trans identified individual to hear and appreciate the lyrics of our signature song, “YOU HAVE MORE FRIENDS THAN YOU KNOW!”
The Rev. Christopher Montella (he, him, his) has been a member of GLEAM, the Bishop's Commission for LGBTQ+ Ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles since 2011 and currently serves as its chair. He is deeply committed to living out our shared Christian call to seek and serve Christ in all people, and to ensuring that all people, especially the most vulnerable among us, including at risk LGBTQ+ youth are affirmed in the knowledge that they are loved by the Church and by God. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA and a Diploma of Theology from Bloy House, the Episcopal Theological School at Claremont where he serves on the Board of Trustees. Christopher has served various communities in the Greater Los Angeles area. He is currently the Priest-in-Charge of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Santa Clarita and lives in North Hollywood with his husband, Erick Long, and their dog, Dixon.
